Tree Surgeon/ Arborist Trainee (Development Role)

Here at Beddow Tree Specialists we have a full trainee position available for someone who is very keen to become a tree surgeon.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic person with an interest in tree surgery and someone looking for a long-term career to join us in a development role.

This is a start at the bottom role with full training supplied for the right candidate to take you all the way through your career, as high as you can go with progression based on effort and attitude.

You will be expected to attend training courses with an approved training provider, in addition to in house and ‘on the job training’ at Beddow Tree client sites.

You need to have a Driving License (clean/zero points) and a passion for becoming a tree surgeon. You need to be prepared to work hard and have diligent work practice.

A head for heights is also required!

Candidates Essential Requirements:

· Drivers Licence (clean license, no points)

· A genuine interest in arboriculture

· Ability to work at heights & handle outdoors ‘all weathers’

· Experience working as part of a team as well as demonstrating use of own initiative

· Can follow both written and verbal instructions

· A committed approach to health and safety

· Good attention to detail and self-motivated, enthusiastic and keen to learn new things.

Rates of Pay

This role is available self-employed.

Self Employed rate £90 per day

Forestry and Tree Surgery Operations and Maintenance Manager

Role will require someone capable of organising and working alone, directly with the director and as part of a team working alongside the tree surgery crews. It is expected that the role will develop into managing at least one other person in the short term.

The role would suit somebody that is physically fit, capable of undertaking basic mechanical work. Good organisational skills and ability to work in quick response to unexpected situations. Capable of managing others.

Roles and responsibilities:

Stump grinding – undertaking stump grinding works, basic maintenance on stump grinding machinery.

Log production – Collection of timber from woodlands, firewood processing (with processor, etc). There maybe development into chainsaw felling works for right person.

Movement of chip and logs with telehandlers large and small.

Filling bags with logs and woodchip and delivering via crane vehicle.

Yard management.

Workshop management.

Staff management when they return from work sites.

Basic servicing on equipment: blade changes, oil changes, belt tensioning, chain sharpening, wheel changing, etc.
